Jeremiah Eastman is a registered lawyer with the Law Society of Ontario, the regulating body of lawyers in Ontario, Canada. He is also a member of the Canadian Bar Association – National Immigration Law Section, the Ontario Bar Association – Citizenship and Immigration Law Section and the Refugee Lawyers’ Association of Ontario.
Jeremiah was called to the Ontario Bar in 1995. He received his law degree from the University of Ottawa and his Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Political Science from York University.
Jeremiah’s practice focuses exclusively on Canadian Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship law.
Before opening his own law office, Jeremiah was a litigation lawyer at the Department of Justice Canada, Immigration Law Section in Toronto for 11 years, where he argued many cases before the Federal Court and the Federal Court of Appeal.
Representing the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration and the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness in these courts, Jeremiah defended many government decisions such as visa officer refusals, refugee claim refusals, Humanitarian and Compassionate application refusals, deportation orders, and
Citizenship application refusals.
Since leaving the Department of Justice Canada, Jeremiah has been representing foreign nationals and
Permanent Residents in complex legal disputes with Citizenship and Immigration Canada and Canada Border Services Agency in the Federal Court of Canada and the Federal Court of Appeal including defending against deportation. He has also argued cases before the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada.
In addition to arguing cases on behalf of his clients, Jeremiah ,with his staff, also have extensive experience in helping foreign nationals prepare and submit applications to work, study, visit and immigrate to Canada under programs such as Spousal Sponsorship, Humanitarian and Compassionate applications, Skilled Worker program, Canadian Experience Class and others.
When not working, Jeremiah loves spending time with his wife and children.
